紐約：博物館之城

New York, often called the Capital of the World, is famous for its vast amount of museums and galleries. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, affectionately called “The Met,” is New York’s biggest and most visited museum. Because there are over three million items to see, you can spend hours, if not a full day, wandering around. What makes this museum so interesting is that its exhibits span over 5000 years of art. Where else can you see mummies from ancient Egypt and in the next room see a photo documentary of modern-day Europe?

If exhibits from the past are what really interest you, you can’t miss the American Museum of Natural History. Its collection includes 30 million artifacts of ancient, natural objects. It’s most famous for its exhibit of dinosaurs. And though you’re generally not allowed to touch items in museums, this museum encourages visitors to touch some of the item on display, like the huge skullcap of a dinosaur that is 60 million years old.

Works from the past century by famous artists like Van Gogh, Monet, and Picasso are shown here. If you’re more interested in what artists are producing today, however, then head over to the district of Soho and check out the plethora of galleries that showcase local and international artists.
