本句型在介紹不定代名詞Some.... Others....的用法，Some.... Others....用於提到沒有特定範圍的人或物時，意指「有些……。有些……。」，others相當於「other + 複數名詞」。此句型亦可用Some.... Some....取代，但some後面接可數或不可數名詞均可，而other之後只可以接可數名詞。例：
‧Some people like the
movie, while others/some (= other people/some people) don’t.
‧Some water is for drinking,
and some is for washing. (第二個some不可用others取代)
此外，如果是用some of...的話，後面就要用the others...，用於指特定範圍的人或事物，表示「其中一些…… 其餘……」。此處的the others相當於the rest，指的是「特定範圍中剩餘的部分」。例：
