People in America are being asked to stop wasting
food. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) claims 15.4 million kilograms
of food 26 out every year. Considering how many people
around the world go hungry, this is bad enough in itself. But this food waste
is also 27 the environment. Food waste is a source of
methane, a gas that plays a big part in global warming.
The EPA report said that a typical household of four
could save US$1,600 28 reducing food waste. However, the EPA also 29 that only 40 percent of wasted food comes from
households. 30 60
percent comes from businesses, restaurants, and supermarkets. They also need to
learn some lessons about food waste, the EPA said.
One chef who agrees is Cathal Armstrong. He says
chefs are not 31 how not to waste food, and have to learn it
themselves. One example he gives is using pieces of lobster that won’t be
served to customers to make stock. Stock is a liquid preparation 3 2 in

Some people are drawn to extreme sports. Whether it’s
jumping from a high place with an elastic rope wrapped around their ankles or
rolling down a hill inside a huge rubber ball, there’s always something new for
people who love excitement. One of the more recent sports to appear is called
Flyboarding. It allows people to leap out of the sea like a flying fish and
soar around like Iron Man.
Flyboarding was invented in 2011 by Franky Zapata, a
French water sports fan. The Flyboard itself is a combination of a jetpack and
a surfboard. It is connected to a jet ski by a long hose. The jet ski drives
around the ocean, sending water rushing through the hose. This pushes the
Flyboard rider into the air. When the water is used up, the Flyboarder dives
back into the sea to let the water build up for the next leap.
While in the air, Flyboarders use their feet to
control its power and movement. They also hold on to the jetpack to keep
themselves balanced. They can spin, dive, and fly like Superman. Check out a
YouTube video to see what amazing tricks a Flyboarder can perform, and why this
new sport has become such a smash hit.
