Milk
does a body good, or so it was once believed. _(21)_ essential vitamins and
minerals, this white liquid produced by cows is still considered by many to be
a good food source. It has a high concentration of vitamin D, calcium, and
potassium. The first two are necessary for maintaining strong bones and teeth, and
people who don't get enough of them tend to suffer more from bone loss and
fractures. The last _(22)_ salt levels in the body. Not enough of it in
combination with too much salt increases the chances of high blood pressure. What's
more, drinking milk can lower the risk of heart attacks and other diseases like
colon cancer.
Contrary
to all this are studies that show how milk is not all it's _(23)_ up to be. Instead
of reducing the possibility of bone fractures, milk actually increases the
occurrence of them when consumed in large quantities. _(24)_, drinking milk has
been connected to prostate cancer, according to research conducted in Italy and
Canada. More recently, acne, asthma, and other health problems have been linked
to milk _(25)_. With that said, there is good and bad to everything, even milk,
so moderation is the key.
